Winter life in Swedish Lapland is made comfortable by learning how to dress, behave and enjoy nature in the cold Subarctic climate. We change into warm outdoor clothing and go outside to strap on some snowshoes. With snowshoes on our feet we travel on a journey into the forest, and learn more about the Arctic lifestyle.
In Sami culture, one year has eight seasons. All seasons are closely linked to the reindeer natural migration, and during this excursion we will learn more about Sami culture. We will listen to joik, the traditional Sámi way to musically tell a story and to remember the old ways. We will also hang out with some reindeers, feed them and most likely get really close to them. In short, we will have a truly unique experience.
Dogsledding is an amazing winter activity and at Brändön Lodge and Pine Bay Lodge there is a nearby kennel and a husky team that will take you on a fantastic adventure. After introductions at the kennel, a safety briefing and information on the journey ahead, you and a partner will learn to take control of the husky team and drive them along a forest and lake trail. Along the way you will be able to enjoy the scenery and thrill of driving the husky team. On our stops the guide will inform you about the life of a husky musher in the frozen north, the dogs as well as the fantastic arctic nature all around us.
This snowmobile tour starts from Måttsund, just 20 minutes from central Luleå. Here you will be close to both the forest and the icy sea. During the journey we stop at a nice place and cook our lunch over an open fire.
